SRISTI’s GYTI Awards: Technological Edge: Self-Cleaning Molecular Material

MBAvinash-Innovation Photo
Self-cleaning molecular material is one of the good examples of innovation on the Technological Edge  that was awarded at the 2013 Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award. Thankfully, such innovations are no longer ignored. It is this dream of pursuing and promoting hi-tech and mass impact innovations that incubation centres should pursue. We will regularly update such innovations to grab the attention of entrepreneurs around the world to give solid form to high tech relevant ideas. We hope that China, Germany, Russia, Malaysia, Bangaldesh, Indonesia, Namibia, Kenya and other countries would also join or create or .cn and ultimately create a global collaborative community of young technologists.Award winners 2013 |Student Team : M. The ability of a surface to clean its dirt and dust by itself is known as self-cleaning. Naturally occurring, lotus leaves possess this unusual self-cleaning property. Such a self-cleaning mimic was successfully fabricated by a simple solution processing technique. Usage of simple, solution-processable molecules facilitates reduced cost, easy processability and large-scale fabrication. Moreover, these surfaces are chemically inert and durable for long term usage. In addition, we have shown for the first time that fluorescent dyes can also be incorporated into these architectures and by using three primary colors- red, green, and blue- in appropriate ratios, white-light-emitting as well as any rainbow-colored hydrophobic decorative architectural coatings can be realised; besides its applications in organic electronics, cell-sorting and others.
More information on the project is accessible here.

  1. Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let
you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.

I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same results.
